Contact M&K Projects via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by phone (09 813 0102) and speak to one of our helpful staff who will take initial details and scope.
Tip: Before calling construction and home renovation companies it is best to get a clear scope of what you are looking to achieve. Consider things like what is the main reason for undertaking this project. Are you extending your home for a growing family? Maybe adding a deck for better outdoor living? Or even looking to reconfigure the living and kitchen area for open plan living? Building a new home with granny flat for those teenagers? These are just a handful potential projects you may be undertaking but they all start the same, with a vision of a better home to enjoy for years to come. Once you have a clear scope take the time to browse sites like Google Images and Pinterest to build a mental image of how your will look in the end. At this point you are ready to call that number above.
You will then receive a call from one of our client advisers who will LISTEN, ADVISE and DELIVER.
Tip: M&K Projects normally work on negotiated contracts where by we help you determine your construction budget and work with you to build the actual cost of your project but should you decide to go to tender, make sure to give each of the construction companies the same brief as this will make it easier to compare quotes when the time comes.
M&K Projects can take care of your design and drafting needs promising to obtain building consent. The first stage is scheme design to get a better idea of look and feel before progressing on to working drawings and building consent.
Tip: At scheme design stage check off the main elements of your build. Things like roof lines, window positions, which windows open, cladding and door locations. This makes things easier to change than at full working drawings, in turn saving you time and money.
Our Quantity Surveying team will estimate your job. Giving allowances for tiles, bathroom fittings, kitchens and lighting if needed.
Tip: If you require specialist fittings let the builder know at pricing stage this will ensure your estimate is as accurate as possible.
Once happy all the required components of your job are covered off you are then given a start date and a Certified Builders NZ contract.
Tip: At the contract stage make sure you sign a written guarantee from your builder as part of your contract documents. M&K Projects are certified builders and below you will find and example of the 10 year Halo Guarantee. HALO 10 YEAR GUARANTEE
You are then given a log in to MKonnect client management software where we discuss scheduling, final finishes and introduce team.
Tip: M&K Projects use an online system to manage the timeline of a construction project but any builder should be able to put together a timeline on excel or even written on a calendar. This allows both parties to have an idea on when key events in your build will take place. Things may and possibly will change during construction but these can amended as you go.
You are then introduced to builders, shown site safety cards and discuss general house keeping.
Tip: Be clear on things that need to be moved or protected during the build and make sure to notify your home and contents provider you are undertaking a construction project. Your builder should have public liability and for new homes they will supply contracts work insurance. With home renovation projects it is the home owners responsibility to supply contracts works and may benefit to speak to an independant insurance broker such as Omni Insurance or Peak Financial Services.
